COMMODITY MARKET TREND - 18 OCTOBER 2013

BASE METAL WRAP: Copper rose, heading for the first advance in three weeks, as Chinese economic data may show a recovery in the world’s biggest metals user. Trading is slow this morning as investors are waiting for cues from the economic data, which should support sentiment.

ENERGY WRAP: Crude oil futures were lower on Thursday after the U.S. Congress passed a bill to reopen the government and avoid a U.S debt default as concerns over the economic impact of the shutdown weighed.

PRECIOUS METAL WRAP: Gold prices surged 3 percent on Thursday, boosted by a dollar slide and expectations that a temporary deal to avoid a U.S. debt default might prompt the Federal Reserve not to reduce its monetary stimulus.
